Our Mission
To encourage, build friendships, and develop self-worth.
To encourage, build friendships, and develop self-worth.
BigLil is a mentoring program for middle school girls by trained high school mentors. Each middle school girl will be paired up with a mentor who has faced a similar struggle or has similar interests.
These monthly meetings are intended to be a night of support through other mentors and a chance to build a relationship with their peers. Along with these meetings of support, we will have a monthly activity night. At these events, the girls will be given a chance to build friendships in the group and have a stress-free evening.
Many have overcome struggles such as depression, stress, eating disorders, grief, low self-esteem, and relationship problems through counseling. Working through issues at an earlier stage is vital, and we can teach how to properly respond to stressful or possibly harmful situations. There is no reason to ignore the problem at hand; we can assist in the development of strong, confident, healthy, independent girls.
The mentors are expected to advise the girls to the best of their ability and encourage them in any way possible. Counseling has been shown to help people effectively handle the stressors in their day-to-day lives, and often leads to a positive self-image and peace of mind.
